Skin Diseases, List of Skin Disorders

Skin disease in simple words refers to disorders that are caused to the skin due to various reasons. People all around the world suffer from a number of skin diseases. The study of skin diseases is termed as “dermatology” and those doctors who specialize in dealing with these skin diseases are known as “dermatologists”.

Some of the very common and well- known skin diseases are Acne, Cold Sore, Rosacea, Hemangioma of Skin, Hives, Warts, Fungal Nail Infection, Mouth Ulcers, Eczema and the list goes on. In other words, skin diseases are the ones that vex or cause irritation to your skin. They cause redness, swelling, burning, and irritation to the skin giving rise to allergies and various other skin problems mentioned above. Here is a little brief up about some of these skin diseases.

List of skin diseases in humans:

Acne: The medical term for Acne is Acne Vulgaris. Usually, it occurs during puberty. It cannot be considered harmful; however, it may leave your skin with a pockmark or even a scar. In simple words, acne is the “elder brother” of pimples that tend to appear on the face.

Cold Sore: Cold sores are basically red in colour and are usually fluid-filled boils. They appear around your mouth areas or even inside the mouth in rare cases. The skin around that particular area often becomes sore, chafed, burned and painful. If it continues to exist for more than a week, it is advisable to take serious measures as it may turn out to be infectious.

Rosacea: This is the type of skin disease that appears around the check, neck, nose or the forehead area. The main causes of it are not clearly known and also there is no cure found for it up till now. Learn More..

Hemangioma of Skin: Hemangioma means a swelling or a growth. Hemangioma of skin is caused when there is excess of abnormal collection of blood vessels. They appear on the internal organs of the human body (especially the liver) or on the skin. Hemangioma of skin and organs can be prevented in a number of ways.

Hives: Another word for Hives is Urticaria. It can be called as a type of skin rash. Mostly, a person may suffer from Hives due to an allergic reaction of the skin to an irritant or due to excess of medication. Hives are itchy and are very painful to touch.

Warts: This is a very common infectious skin disease. It is not dangerous or harmful but is painful and ugly. They are caused mainly because of HPVs (human Papilomaviruses).

Fungal Nail Infection: Infection caused due to fungus is referred to as fungal infection. They can affect any parts of your body. Nails are affected by fungal infection because of Onychomycosis. Wearing closed shoes such as tennis shoes; wearing artificial nails; swimming in public; weakened immune system; having a nail injury and similar other things can all lead to this kind of fungal infection of the nails.

Skin Cancer: Skin cancer formed in squamous cells is called squamous cell carcinoma. Whenever there is skin cancer of the neuroendocrine cells, it is termed as neuroendocrine carcinoma. Scabies: Scabies is an itchy, highly contagious skin condition caused by an infestation by the itch mite Sarcoptes scabiei. Scabies produces a skin rash composed of small red bumps and blisters and affects specific areas of the body.
